NTU Alumni Toastmasters Club Meeting
I attended the NTU Alumni Toastmasters club installation meeting. Was great to catch up toastmasters I know as I used to be a member of this club. At the height of my toastmasters involvement, I was a member in three English toastmasters Club and one mandarin toastmasters. Have since let my membership in the other clubs lapse and now concentrate in my home club - the Open Alumni Toastmasters Club :-)
Why do I continue in the toastmasters journey? Because learning never stops. I met someone who was 52 and pursuing a part-time degree program in one of our local universities. I also encountered someone who now has a Masters from a local university and started out in VITB (now ITE). People at toastmasters are generally into personal growth and development. To deliver a speech is to continue to practice the art of public speaking. This art requires constant practice, practice and more practice. I delivered a project evaluation for someone doing his project 10 and I was tagged with 13 pause fillers. The feedback and striving for excellence never stops. And that is why I continue with toastmasters.
